I'm 5 months old today!

Ah Teddy, why am I so happy? As I reflect back since my last picture with you, I've started eating real food (rice cereal) and I had my first play date with a girl! We didn't talk much but there was this connection.

Rice and Salad

We have started giving Cole some solid food although I'm not sure you can say rice cereal is really solid food. Cole seems to be enjoying the rice cereal and he's still perfecting his technique. He pushes most of the rice back out but nevertheless enjoys it.


I've also started my bonding leave and one expectation is that dinner be ready. So much pressure. Here's a quick chicken caesar salad from Everyday Food. It tastes good and is very easy to make.

Home made bread

Nothing like eating some chili (crockpot in the background) with some home made bread. You can see Lauren posing after she helped put all the ingredients into our bread maker pan. Okay so we didn't do any mixing or kneading but still home made and a lot easier.

Upgrade to the big table

We moved Lauren to the dining table this past weekend in preparation for Cole to take over her high chair. So far there haven't been any major spills. Having her sit next to you though has some disadvantages (at least I've been told). For example, she likes to poke you when you are eating.


Here's the booster seat by Fisher Price that we bought at buybuybaby. They just opened a store near us and since it is owned by bedbathandbeyond, you can use the bedbath coupons there with some exceptions. The coupons can't be expired (unlike at bedbath) and you can't use them on anything that bedbath doesn't carry such as strollers, car seats, kid furniture, etc. The booster seat seems to work pretty well, is collapsible, and would easily work for infants as well. We use it as a booster without the tray for Lauren but I can see us taking this on trips to use as a high chair to feed Cole.
