Day 1. After months and months of planning......

....the kitchen has finally started. Here are some pictures of what it looked like before today.


Overall the kitchen was in good condition with Corian counters but we wanted to get new appliances. What started as maybe getting new appliances turned into getting new counters as well. But once you install granite, you are stuck with your cabinets so then we started investigating new cabinets which lead to removing soffits and putting in new lights. A few months and several hundreds of hours of research later, the remodel has finally started.

First up on the list was demo:

1. Remove the cabinets, counters, and appliances.
2. Remove the soffits (drywall boxes above the cabinets)
3. Lower the counter height

Here are some pictures from the first day. Notice anything different? It only took the two guys just a few hrs to rip everything out.

You'll notice that the soffits are missing as well as the counter wall has been lowered.
